Deputy Ministers

Mary Jervase Yak

Mary Jervase Yak was sworn in as Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning in August 2013, having served in this position since 2011. She oversees the Ministry’s planning and budgeting responsibilities.

Previously, Mary Jervase Yak was the Minister for Human Resource Development in the Government of Southern Sudan. Following the Comprehensive Peace Agreement of 2005, she was a Member of Parliament for Southern Sudan. An activist for women’s rights, she was also Chairperson of the Sudan Women Association.

Mary Jervase Yak holds a Bachelors Degree in Economics from the University of Khartoum and a Masters Degree in Gender and Development from the University of Sussex.

Kengen Jakor Beyo

Kengen Jakor Beyo was sworn in as Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning in August 2013. He responsible for the Ministry’s treasury and resource mobilization activities.

Previously, Kengen Jakor Beyo was the Deputy Minister for Commerce, Investment and Industry. Following the Comprehensive Peace Agreement of 2005, he had served as Minister of Finance and Minister of Cabinet Affairs in Jonglei State. Before joining Government, he worked as a teacher and school director in Lybia, Egypt and Australia.

Kengen Jakor Beyo holds a Bachelors Degree in Education from the University of Alexandria, Egypt.
